Solar Oven

A hands-on science project where students designed, built and tested a solar oven to explore how sunlight can be captured and transformed into useful thermal energy.

Solar Oven

From sunlight to something delicious

Students worked in teams to design and build their own solar ovens using simple materials and reflective surfaces. Through the construction process, they explored how sunlight could be collected and used to produce heat.

Once their solar ovens were ready, students took them outside to test their designs under real conditions. They observed how well the ovens captured heat and experienced first-hand how their design choices affected the result.

The project ended with a memorable practical test: students used their solar ovens to warm s'mores, turning a science investigation into something they could see, test and enjoy together.
